Dramatic photos show lightning strikes above York Designer Outlet - did you see it?
AFTER the heat came the storm – and what a storm it was.
Many of us were woken up in the night as heavy rain and thunder and lightning ripped through the York skies.
These dramatic photos show the moment thunder bolts struck down over York – at the popular York Designer Outlet.
The fork of white can be clearly seen above buildings and from the car park.

These photos were taken by Kieran Delaney of the Press Camera Club, our popular Facebook group.
Posting them in the group, Kieran said: "Wow…now THAT is a thunderstorm! Only lasted about 10-15 minutes but I’ve never seen anything like this!!!!
"These photos don’t do justice, scary as anything but at the same time incredible display from Mother Nature!"

Following the storm, the weather in York and North Yorkshire returned to the high temperatures we have been experiencing this week, with building humidity, with maximum temperatures expected to peak at 34 °C.
The Met Office gives this outlook for Saturday to Monday: Still very warm with some hazy sunshine Saturday, however successive showery and thundery outbreaks pushing eastwards will introduce fresher conditions over the weekend. Nearer normal temperatures Monday.
