A new support service in York and North Yorkshire is set to help women "grow, recover and thrive" through community-led support.

Flourish, led by the Women’s Alliance and designed in partnership with women in York and North Yorkshire, will offer tailored, trauma-informed support through drop-in centres and outreach programmes, empowering women to access the help they need.

The scheme, funded by nearly £400,000 from the Combined Authority, is being delivered by St Giles, Changing Lives, and Waythrough.

Jo Coles, deputy mayor for policing, fire and crime, said: "Thank you to the amazing network of partners from across York and North Yorkshire who are already doing so much to support the delivery of a whole system approach to tackling violence against women and girls; putting the needs of victims and survivors at the centre."

Tracey Burley, chief executive of St Giles, added: "We know that when organisations work together, people are better able to access the right support at the right time, creating sustained benefits for both individuals and their communities."

The service emerged from the Whole System Approach network, which connects organisations with expertise in early intervention, prevention, and specialist women’s support.

It aims to provide support that meets individual needs and improves access to services and opportunities.
