A POPULAR business has made changes to its menu after soaring temperatures have turned its kitchens into a “furnace”.

The Curious Coffee Company has shops in Market Place, Easingwold and within Haxby Shopping Centre.

Owners Eddie and Jenny Copley-Farnell said the stores will cease serving food an hour early at 3pm today and will remove hot sandwiches and fries from its menu today (June 25) to prevent its staff from working in tough conditions.

In a statement on social media, the company said: “In order to serve the full menu, we have our big, giant, red hot kitchen equipment blasting out serious heat all day long.

“When barely any customers are hankering after a hot sandwich, or adding crispy hot fries to their order, forcing our fantastic staff to work in a furnace for absolutely no reason is completely bonkers.”

The business added that customers will still be able to enjoy its drinks menu, homemade brownies and cakes, along with soft serve ice cream until closing time at 4pm.

It comes as The Curious Coffee Company has submitted plans to transform the vacant Boots pharmacy at number 86 Clifton Green into a brand-new shop.
