PARTS of a York secondary school has closed for the rest of the week due to soaring temperatures.
All Saints Catholic Lower School, in Nunnery Lane, has closed to all students today and tomorrow (Friday, June 26), after York was placed under an amber alert for severe heat on Tuesday (June 23).
Students in Years 7, 8 and 9 will not be able to attend school on these days.

But the Upper School, which houses Years 10 to 13 at Mill Mount remains open, a representative has said, allowing students to complete and prepare for their exams.
The All Saints campus is split between its Upper and Lower Schools in Nunnery Lane and Mill Mount, respectively.
A statement posted to the school’s social media added that those attending school will be able to do so in their school PE kit instead of their uniform.
It read: “Due to the rising temperatures, for the remainder of this week, students will be permitted to attend school in their normal PE kit instead of their usual school uniform.
“We ask that students wear the approved PE kit in line with our existing guidelines.
“We will continue to monitor the weather conditions closely and will review this temporary arrangement at the end of the week.
“Any further updates will be communicated to parents and carers in due course.”
