DRONES have been flown by police in East Yorkshire to target the illegal use of vehicles.

Humberside Police said that on Saturday, June 6, as part of a national day of action, its Bridlington neighbourhood policing team (NPT) worked with rural task force (RTF) drone pilots and the special constabulary to address ongoing concerns over the illegal used of e-scooters and e-bikes.

A force spokesperson said: "Over recent months, officers have been engaging with members of the public, providing advice and education regarding the lawful use of these vehicles.

"As part of today’s operation, the team seized nine e-scooters and two e-bikes, while also issuing warnings and guidance to a number of first-time offenders.

"If you are considering using an e-scooter or e-bike, please ensure you understand the relevant legislation and regulations before riding on public roads, pavements, or other public highways."
