PART of a coastal East Yorkshire town were cordoned off yesterday (Saturday, May 30) after police received reports of "a suspected ordnance device" on a beach.

Humberside Police said a cordon was in place in Foresters Way, Bridlington with an explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) team in the area.

A force spokesperson said: "The device was examined by the EOD team who successfully detonated the device on the beach and confirmed it caused no further risk or danger to the public."

Police confirmed the cordon was lifted and its enquiries have been completed.
