A main road connecting the centre of York to the Ring Road and onward toward North Yorkshire is to close for 28 days for highway maintenance works.

City of York Council said Monks Cross Link, which connects the Monks Cross Shopping Park to the A1237 Ring Road, will close from 7.30am on Monday, June 8 to 4.30pm on Sunday, July 5.

The road is closing so that the works can be carried out safely, the council said.

An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Jockey Lane, the A1036 Malton Road and the A1237 Ring Road.

Traffic signs/barriers will indicate the extent of the prohibition. the council said.
