A Yorkshire-based tech firm has been awarded national recognition for its work in sustainability.

Techbuyer, a provider of sustainable IT solutions, has been named a 2026 winner of the King’s Award for Enterprise for Sustainable Development, one of only 185 organisations across the UK to receive the honour.

The company promotes circular economy practices by refurbishing IT hardware, reducing electronic waste, and encouraging more sustainable technology habits.

Steve Sexton, CEO of Techbuyer, said: "We're incredibly proud to receive the King’s Award for Enterprise, particularly for Sustainable Development – a core aspect of our business.

"This recognition reflects the commitment, expertise and values of our company and team, as well as the impact that our circular IT model delivers – reducing the impact of IT on our environment, without compromising on performance, efficiency or reliability.

"It reinforces our belief that sustainability and commercial success must go hand in hand."

Founded in 2005, Techbuyer employs 190 people and delivers sustainable IT solutions to companies worldwide.

The King’s Awards for Enterprise - previously known as The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise - were renamed in 2023 to reflect His Majesty The King’s commitment to continuing the legacy of HM Queen Elizabeth II in celebrating exceptional UK businesses.

Now in its 60th year, the King’s Awards for Enterprise remain the UK’s most prestigious business accolades.

Successful organisations may use the esteemed King’s Awards Emblem for the next five years, signalling excellence to customers, partners, and global markets. Further information is available at: https://www.gov.uk/kings-awards-for-enterprise
