The jury in the York bedsit murder trial has started its second day in retirement at Leeds Crown Court.
The jurors have to decide if Michael Mulvana, 32, of Bright Street off Leeman Road, York, and Jobie Tyers, 35, of Gate Helmsley, murdered Indrit Mustafaj of Bradford in a flat off Haxby Road in November 2024. Both men deny the charge.
Mulvana did not attend court this morning. Judge Andrew Stubbs KC told the jury they mustn’t speculate about the reason for his absence from the dock and the fact that he was absent was not evidence against him.
Tyers has attended court.
Both men deny charges of wounding the woman who lived in the bedsit with intent to cause her grievous bodily harm and causing grievous bodily harm with intent to a York visitor to the flat. Mulvana also denies a charge of robbing Mr Mustafaj, a charge Tyers has pleaded guilty to.
The jury first went out yesterday morning shortly before 11am and were sent home at 4pm without reaching any verdicts.
