MP Rachael Maskell 'inspired' at York Disability Week events

York Central MP Rachael Maskell attended two exhibitions at York Explore Library during York Disability Week.

The events included 'The Eleanor Worthington Art Prize Exhibition' and 'A Census of Disability Joy'.

The library also hosted the 'Poetry for All' event, by Stairwell Books, aimed at making poetry accessible to everyone.

Ms Maskell said: "It was so inspiring to see the Eleanor Worthington Art Prize Exhibition and A Census of Disability Joy Exhibition, and I thoroughly enjoyed visiting Explore York.

"I want to thank all those involved with organising York Disability Week.

"It is truly a fantastic set of events, committed to spreading empowerment, awareness and support."

The Eleanor Worthington Art Prize commemorates Eleanor Worthington, a disabled artist born in York before moving to Italy, and celebrates work exploring "disability and self-fulfilment".

The second exhibition, A Census of Disability Joy, features artwork by a collective of disabled artists in York.
