POLICE and paramedics attended an incident in York city centre in the early hours over the weekend.

Officers in at least four police vehicles descended in Stonebow in York where they were joined by two Yorkshire Ambulance crews on Sunday, November 16.

There were numerous people in the area at the time with many returning home after a night out in York, and several people queuing by the nearby taxi rank.

One passer-by who witnessed the police and paramedics' activity at about 1.15am on Sunday said he had heard other onlookers say there was blood on the ground - but this has not been confirmed.

The scene was sealed off with police tape from the junction with Colliergate to one of the bus stops near the Roxy Ball Room on Stonebow.

The Press has approached North Yorkshire Police and Yorkshire Ambulance Service for further details and will publish further details when they become available.

As reporter, later on Sunday, from lunchtime, police officers stood guard at the Pavement and Fossgate entrances of Lady Peckett's Yard in the city centre. Police vehicles were at both entrances, including a crime scene investigation vehicle and specialist officers.

The Press cannot confirm yet whether these two police incidents are linked.
