A YORK singer songwriter is staging a fairytale Christmas concert.
Alistair Griffin's Ignite Concerts has organised the concert, called Fairytale at York Minster, following the sell-out success of The Greatest Shows.
On Wednesday, December 17 in the candlelit setting of the Minster, singer-songwriter Alistair and the Ebor Quartet plan to bring to life a heartwarming collection of Christmas classics.

"You’ll hear favourites such as Fairytale of New York, Last Christmas, and Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree — reimagined in beautiful harmony — alongside the stirring majesty of O Holy Night and the magical Home Alone theme," said Alistair.
"It’s the ultimate Christmas concert: a perfect blend of festive favourites, timeless elegance, and feel-good fun that will leave audiences certain the festive season has begun.
“We had a brilliant night with The Greatest Shows at the Minster and a big crowd.
“We’re really looking forward to bringing our Christmas show to the Minster now — it’s the perfect setting.”
The evening also includes a fun, interactive rendition of The Twelve Days of Christmas, where different sections of the audience take on a day and join in the laughter.
“We always encourage participation if the mood takes you, but it’s not compulsory if you just want to sit back and listen.”
Fairytale at York Minster is part of Ignite Concerts’ busy festive season, which also includes their flagship Big Christmas Concerts at Q York, Priory Street on Friday and Saturday, December 12 and 13 — bigger, party-style shows full of Christmas cheer.
“It’s always a busy Christmas,” said Alistair, “but we love bringing a bit of festive spirit to York.”
Back in 2022 Alistair, who shot to fame on the BBC talent show Fame Academy in 2002, scored a number 5 hit with a track co-penned with his former mentor, BeeGee Robin Gibb.
