As The Press reported on Thursday (November 13) the first morning of the city's Christmas Market welcomed hundreds of shoppers, with dozens of traders lining Parliament Street and St Sampson’s Square in quaint alpine chalets from 10.30am.
Market visitors can expect delicious food, drinks, along with an assortment of festive trinkets, cards, candles and decorations – all on sale for five-and-a-half-weeks in the lead up to the big day.

It has been organised by Make It York, which said it is their wish to highlight “the best part of the city” with 85 per cent of traders this year hailing from Yorkshire, and all food stalls proudly representing this local theme.
The same night the winter lights were turned on with festive projections lighting up buildings in St Helen's Square while pupils from The Mount School sang Christmas carols.
