A Christmas campaign in York is aiming to raise £40,000 to support hospice care during a milestone anniversary.
Saint Catherine’s is marking 40 years of care and has launched the £40K for 40 years’ campaign to support patients and their families.
The hospice provides free, specialist care for people with life-limiting conditions.
Susan Stephenson, fundraiser at Saint Catherine’s, said: “We’re really excited to be launching our £40K for 40 years’ campaign.
"By linking up with Big Give, it means that with just one donation, you could have twice the impact.
“We know that this is a huge amount to raise in seven days, but with our community’s support – and with the match funding on offer – we believe that together we can make this happen.
"Every £1,000 raised will represent a year of care at Saint Catherine’s since the very start back in 1985.”
The campaign will run for one week from December 2 to December 9, 2025, with donations doubled through the Big Give scheme.
Additional match funding has also been pledged by local businesses and individuals.
Ms Stephenson added: "Our care does not stop on Christmas Day, or any other day throughout the year.
"Our aim is to be there for those who need us, when they need us, at the most difficult time of their lives.
"Saint Catherine’s staff are often called ‘angels’ by patients, and this is particularly apt at Christmas time."
