THERE'S further change at the top at an East Yorkshire school.
As The Press reported last month, Luke Sloman, the current head at Woldgate School and Sixth Form in Kilnwick Road, Pocklington, will be taking on the role as chief operating officer of the trust to which the school belongs, Wonder Learning Partnership (WLP) from January next year.

Mrs Adams said: “From my very first visit, I was struck by the warmth, pride, and sense of community that defines Woldgate School. It is a place where young people are truly known, valued, and supported to thrive both academically and personally. I am honoured to lead a school that places care, ambition, and excellence at its heart.”
Currently serving as Vice Principal at St Mary’s College in Hull—an outstanding school known for its academic success and inclusive ethos, Mrs Adams said her leadership philosophy centres on high expectations, expert teaching, and genuine care for every child.
“Children only get one chance at their education,” she said. “It is our duty to ensure we get it right providing the guidance, opportunities, and support they need to flourish. I am committed to upholding Woldgate School’s values and fostering a culture where academic excellence goes hand in hand with character development.”
With the opening of Woldgate School’s new building, Mrs Adams sees a unique opportunity to build on the school’s strengths and redefine its ambitions. Her immediate focus will be listening to pupils, parents, staff, and the wider community to understand what makes Woldgate special and where it can go even further.

The school will continue to benefit from the support and expertise of current head, Mr Sloman, who is moving to serve as chief operating officer of WLP.
Jonathan Britton, chief executive officer at WLP, said: “We were deeply impressed by Mrs Adams’ vision for fostering a culture of academic excellence, character development and enriching opportunities beyond the classroom.
"With Woldgate School being at the heart of its community, we welcomed Lauren’s focus upon the mission and values of the school and the emphasis on creating positive relationships with our children, colleagues and parents.”
