Where’s the best coffee shop in York and North Yorkshire?
Maybe you are reading this right now – latte in hand in your favourite spot or you’ve made plans to meet there with friends later today – and an answer has come into your mind, or maybe you’re looking for a new place to explore.
We’re launching the next instalment in our ‘best in the city’ competitions, and so far, readers have had the chance to nominate from hairdressers, bakeries, pubs, and curry houses to name a few.

Nominations for our Best Coffee Shop competition open today (Monday, November 10) and close on Sunday (November 17), so if you want your favourite coffee shop to be celebrated then nominate them here.
We’ll share the top 10 list – voted for entirely by you - next week after nominations close.
Once the votes are compiled, the top 10 finalists will feature in The Press newspaper, along with a coupon to allow readers to choose a winner.
Each will have their moment online and in print to tell you why they should be your winner.

“Plenty of us will say that a visit to their favourite spot for a hot drink and maybe catching up with owners and regulars helps them to make it through the day, and for others the ambience makes them an essential part of a regular routine.
“At The Press, we want to celebrate the people behind these businesses, who work hard for their customers, opening varied hours and providing a great backdrop for their enjoyment.
“That’s why we’re launching this competition to recognise the best of the best.
“In the next few weeks, we’ll keep you updated on the coffee shops which feature in our competition, so keep your eyes open to see if your favourite is nominated.”
