FIREWORKS were set off through the letterboxes at two homes in York and through the window of another, police said.
An investigation has been launched into the three 'disturbing' incidents which targeted houses in the Tang Hall area, which police say posed 'a serious risk to the occupants and the property'.
They happened between 6.30pm and 7pm on Monday 3 November on Carter Avenue, Fourth Avenue and Olympian Court.
A search is also underway to track down the culprits.
Sergeant Luke Hutchinson, of the York Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “These incidents are clearly disturbing, and we are doing all we can to identify the suspects involved.
“Luckily there were no injuries and no serious damage caused.
“However, this could have had devastating consequences.
"As part of our ongoing enquiries, we are urging people to come forward as soon as possible who may have witnessed any of the incidents or have any relevant information. This includes CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage.

To help protect yourselves, your home and your families, police are recommending that people secure their letterboxes.
"Consider installing an internal letterbox cage or restrictor to prevent items being pushed through," said a spokesman. "Install CCTV or video doorbells: These can deter offenders and provide valuable evidence. Report suspicious behaviour: If you see something unusual, don’t hesitate to report it."
People are also being advised to keep windows and doors shut and secure windows to prevent a number of different offences.
