Search the Public Notice PortalWORK looks set to start soon on a major housing scheme on the edge of York.
The scheme from Persimmon Homes for 162 new homes off Hull Road got planning permission last year and should see work start on site in January.
City of York Council Leader, Claire Douglas and ward councillor and executive member for housing Michael Pavlovic met with Persimmon regional managing director Scott Waters and Persimmon Yorkshire's land director, Joel Frank at the site to discuss progress on Monday (November 3).

The York-based developer first submitted plans for the scheme in 2015, with it undergoing several revisions following consultation with nearby residents, councillors and council officials.
The development promises a mix of homes for local families, first-time buyers, and downsizers.

Of the 162 homes there will be 153 Persimmon homes and nine self and custom build units. There will be 49 'affordable homes' of which 13 will get a 40 per cent first homes discount on market value; sold to first time buyers, whose joint income does not exceed £80,000 and 36 will be social rented homes.
Prices are not yet available, but Mr Waters said there have already been a lot of enquiries.
He praised the current council for 'breaking the log jams' in the planning system.
"It's been an absolute labour of love to get to this point," said Cllr Douglas. "If we hadn't all been working together to deliver this we wouldn't be here. It's a high priority of ours to get building. We wish we could snap our fingers to make it happen, but it only happens by working constructively together."
The site is close to the University of York and next to Kimberlow Lane where Unity Health has a doctor surgery and there's a parade of local shops.

Persimmon has also contributed £1,480,168 towards local education with £979,234 going towards Fulford School or Archbishop Holgate's CE School, £124,014 towards specialist educational needs in the council area and £376,920 towards preschool and early years additional places within 3km of the site.
All homes will feature electric vehicle chargers and air-source heat pumps, meaning the development will exceed current building regulations and will be ‘gas-free’.

Residents will also have access to nearly three acres of public open space, including a children's play area.
To support local homebuyers, Persimmon has offered to commit to a period of exclusivity for both local people and key workers on open market dwellings before they go on general sale.
