A SPECIAL fundraising event is coming to the cobbled streets of the centre of York.

York Inset Scooter Club is hosting its annual 'show and shine' in Grape Lane on Saturday August 2, from 10.30am to 5pm.

Nick Beilby from York Inset said: "The aim of the day is to display scooters and motorcycles and raise funds for The Snappy Trust.

"We're hopeful that some bikers from the Leeds area will be along, and from farther afield.

"We had more than 70 bikes and scooters on display last year and expect to have the same number this weekend.

"Those belonging to our club are used are used regularly on the club's Tuesday night ride outs."

Nick said: "We're proud to be able to support a local charity and let the city see our bikes and scooters, all in a good cause.

"We want the public to enjoy it and do our bit to make things a little better for some of the people of York."
