City of York Council planning officers have approved an application from West Cornwall Pasty Company to move back into the railway station concourse in York, in a unit it formerly occupied.
In a planning report, officers said the Grade II* listed unit positioned in the inner and outer concourses of the station had historic arched top windows and internal joinery.

Design and conservation specialists at the council requested amendments including reduced partition heights and the removal of a vinyl planned for one of the unit's windows.
The report said scheme amendments meant "the proposed internal fit-out is now considered acceptable, and no harm will be made to the existing historic joinery of the windows by the free-standing tables and chairs."
Entrance signage is set to match the set-up when West Cornwall Pasty Company formerly occupied the site, the report said, adding that the application proposal was "found to preserve the special architectural interest of the Grade II* listed station building."
