One year ago today, a York schoolboy took a unique approach to World Book Day by dressing up as page 86 of the Argos catalogue.

Rowan Sanderson, nine, a pupil at Osbaldwick Primary School, adorned himself with a toaster, a kettle, and a pair of hair straighteners, proudly declaring that he was off to school as a page from the Argos catalogue.

A picture of Rowan in his 'fancy dress' was shared on the York Press Facebook group as part of the World Book Day celebrations on March 7, 2024, an event that encourages thousands of youngsters to dress as characters from their favourite books.

"Everyone knows who Rowan is."

She also noted the positive reactions from the community, stating, "I've had a few reactions from people on social media saying it's hilarious!"
