STORM Gareth battered North Yorkshire - and brought down a large tree in York.
Strong winds brought down the tree on Water End, close to Clifton Green. The road has been cleared.
In North Yorkshire, a power cut in the YO14 and YO17 postcode areas affected 890 properties, according to Northern Powergrid. It says power has since been restored.
Fire crews were called out this morning to deal with a loose structure hanging from a roof in Whitley in the Selby district.
Yesterday evening, fire crews attended a property in Scarborough where a TV aerial was hanging loose and in danger of falling onto a road or path.
Damage to the electric wires on the East Coast Mainline means trains running between Durham and Newcastle may be delayed by up to 15 minutes.
Meanwhile, flood warnings have been issued for the River Ouse at York riverside properties and at Naburn Lock, south of York.
