The 10-week closure of one of York’s most historic streets starts from Monday, January 14.
Sunday is the last day traffic will be able to use Fossgate between Stonebow and Walmgate until Monday, March 25.
There will be no signed diversion and motorists will have to find their own alternative route.
The closure starts at midnight at the beginning of Monday and lasts until midnight at the end of Sunday March 24.
The road is being closed so that workmen can reconstruct the pavements on both sides.
All businesses on the street, which houses several coffee shops, bars and restaurants as well as shops, will be accessible.
It is the second major closure this month to affect the eastern part of the city centre.
Walmgate Bar is being closed at weekends while the traffic lights at the junction of Walmgate, Lawrence Street and the Inner Ring Road are upgraded.
