Sensorium promises to be a diverse evening of interactive visual and aural installation work and performances, designed to ignite and stimulate the senses, next Wednesday night in York.

Winding paths, pockets of light and video projections will “confuse and immerse the audience in a realm of imagination” in a series of immersive, cross-media artworks at the Guildhall from 7pm to 10pm.

Sensorium is the brainchild of The Link Project, the triumvirate of Emily Kalies, Judith Ring and Angie Atmadjaja.

“We created it with the intention of showcasing sound and visual works in an innovative way,” says Angie. “In doing so, we’re providing an opportunity not only for promising sound artists from the music department of University of York but also for other mixed media artists across the country.”

Taking part will be Emily and Judith; Enrico Bertelli; Michael Benner; Briony Clarke; Suzanna Fatta; Morag Galloway; Radek Rudnicki; Garrett Sholdice; Cindy Tong; Lorraine Wales and others.

During the three hours of installations and performances, visitors can enter and leave at their own pace to view the different works, which will be showcased in assorted musical genres, ranging from live contemporary music to pure electronic video works.

Look out too for Briony Clarke’s enigmatic visual art installation: a set of five books of private and thought-provoking conversations between the alter-egos of herself.

Admission is £5, concessions £3, and all profits will go to the Lord Mayor of York’s charities, York Against Cancer and Brunswick Organic Nursery. A licensed bar will be in operation.

Sensorium is supported financially by the University of York Music Department Research Committee and City of York Council.
