FORMER World Cup star Tore Andre Flo is due to begin his Leeds United playing comeback during tonight's pre-season friendly against York City at KitKat Crescent.

Norwegian striker Flo suffered a foot injury after scoring against West Brom on his league debut for Leeds in January and was unable to play any further part in the season as Dennis Wise's men were relegated to League One.

But the 34-year-old forward is fit to face City after missing Leeds' tour of Ireland last week.

Flo scored 23 times in 76 games for Norway before announcing his international retirement in 2004, making him the Scandinavian country's fourth-joint top scorer along with Manchester United's Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

He also scored 50 times during a three-year spell for Chelsea before stints with Rangers and Sunderland.

Having joined Leeds from Valerenga, he will arguably be the most high-profile player plying his trade in the lower leagues next term.

Flo could also be partnered by Richard Cresswell in attack tonight although the former York City striker's partner is expecting a baby and will be excused if necessary.

Other members of tonight's Leeds squad include USA international Eddie Lewis, England's one-cap wonder Alan Thompson and Republic of Ireland regular Jonathan Douglas.

But David Healy and Gylfi Einarsson will not face City, nor will Shaun Derry or Robbie Blake, fuelling speculation the quartet will soon be departing Elland Road.

Veteran striker Ian Moore did just that linking up with Hartlepool yesterday.

Leeds include former Nottingham Forest and Southampton midfielder David Prutton.

Leeds squad: Trialist goalkeeper, Richardson, Marques, Heath, Lewis, Carole, Prutton, Weston, Thompson, Douglas, Westlake, Constantine, Beckford, Kandol, Elliott, Bayly, Delph, Howson, Flo, Cresswell.
