There will be no mercy from midfielder Danny Pugh when he lines up for Preston against former club Leeds United tomorrow night.

Pugh had a miserable time at Leeds, seldom getting the chance to show what he could do despite a good scoring record from midfield, and last season he joined Preston.

He now finds himself a regular in a team chasing promotion while Leeds are rock bottom of the Championship.

Pugh acknowledges this is a massive match for Leeds, who are unbeaten in their last three starts, but he added: "It's just as big a game for us and that's what we are concerned with.

"We're in a good position to start creeping back up the table and hopefully get in the top two.

"Leeds are in a difficult position, fighting for their lives, so it's going to be a tough game. We'll definitely be going as the favourites but they've got a lot of quality."

Leeds manager Dennis Wise will delay his selection until he sees how fit striker David Healy, skipper Jonathan Douglas and on-loan Radostin Kishishev are when they return from international duty.

He will also consider the possibility of including Gary Kelly, Hayden Foxe and Rui Marques, who all made their comeback from injury in the reserves on Tuesday.

It may be too early for them, especially Kelly, but reserve team coach Neil Thompson said: "They have to be ready for the next five or six weeks.

"They all need to have their eyes on the games coming up and the fact that they might be needed. That's why it was important for them to get some time on the pitch in their locker."
