DOUGIE FLOCKHART will be back for York City Knights tomorrow boosted by The Press Player of the Month accolade.

The Scottish winger bagged six tries in five games prior to missing last week’s narrow loss at Halifax, with his run of scoring in July against Barrow, Dewsbury and Whitehaven being a high point in a winless month.

He has been voted July’s top player by readers of The Press, despite his unexpected and untimely unavailability last weekend, having to return to Doncaster RUFC for pre-season sessions.

Meanwhile, Jack Lee has given himself a chance of reclaiming The Press Player of the Year award.

The 2010 winner was deemed our second-best player last week and so picks up two player of the year points, to lift him to fifth in the leaderboard, four points off top spot with six games to go.

Ben Johnston was man of the match so adds three points to his tally – as does Flockhart for winning the Player of the Month poll – while the remaining point this week went to prop Luke Stenchion.

Joe Pickets was the most unlucky to miss out, though being named in the league’s Team of the Week was ample compensation.

The Press Player of the Year standings: Scott 15pts, Sullivan 15, Presley 15, Carr 12, Lee 11, Aldous 10, Brown 8, Nicholson 8, Ford 8, J Latus 7, Flockhart 7, Briscoe 6, Johnston 5, Freer 4, Hadley 3, Lineham 3, Lyons 3, Elliott 3, Mallinder 3, Pickets 3, Brining 2, Smith 2, Golden 2, Bowden 2, Dent 2, Potter 1, Kent 1, Stenchion 1.

• SHEFFIELD Eagles player Pat Smith may well be on his way to home-town club York City Knights to join brother Ed in the Huntington Stadium ranks.

Hooker/half-back Smith is currently on a rolling loan at Championship One club Gloucestershire All Golds and The Press understands talks have opened about a switch to York for the 2014 season.

The 23-year-old student international has played 24 games in total for the current Kingstone Press Championship champions, scoring two tries, since joining in 2011.

This season he has played only three times, his last appearance coming at Whitehaven on April 1.
