DUAL registered back-row forward Laurence Pearce is on standby to make his York City Knights debut against Halifax on Sunday.

The 21-year-old Hull player is back in training after a hand injury and is in contention for the Co-operative Championship clash at Huntington Stadium (3pm).

A decision on prop Paul King is expected to be left until tonight’s final training session, with player-coach Chris Thorman also keen to delay naming his squad until after last night’s reserves match against Sheffield.

Meanwhile, the Knights have confirmed that their Carnegie Challenge Cup third round tie against amateur side Hull Dockers will be held at Huntington Stadium on Sunday, March 25, kick off 3pm.

• York Acorn’s third round Challenge Cup tie at Gateshead Thunder will be staged at Gateshead International Stadium on Saturday, March 24, kick off 3pm.

The amateur club are offering a match ticket and coach travel deal for £20 for adults, £15 for children. Anybody interested should phone Andy Grant on 07766 444209.
