YORK Acorn ARLC teenagers Eddie Clapham and Haiden Barber enjoyed decent debuts as York City Knights reserves beat Dewsbury reserves 36-22.
The pair were drafted in due to illness to Dan Mole and the fact Luke Tomlinson, who recently turned 17, was too young to play according to Rugby Football League rules. Under-18s players who are not signed on pro forms are ineligible for open-age sides.
Clapham, 19, came onto the wing and Barber, 19, was a replacement back-rower.
Hooker Kris Brining and prop Jack Stearman bagged two tries apiece and others came from Henry Mitchell and Lee Waterman, who was too powerful for his young opponent at centre. Waterman added five conversions and a penalty.
Davey Burns and Joe Hemmings, back from injury, also impressed.
