YORK City Knights are looking to increase the number of directors at Huntington Stadium, The Press can reveal.

Chief executive John Guildford confirmed talks were "at an advanced stage" with two or three potential new board members.

The Press believes none of the possible new directors would bankroll the club, but rather bring money-making ideas and potential new sponsors.

At present, Guildford and fellow director Dave Gorwood do most of the management work behind the scenes, with chairman Roger Dixon a respected figurehead.

Guildford confirmed: "We're looking to increase the board. We're trying to increase the management to bring in ideas for generating money, bring new sponsors, and to share the workload."

He said any enrolment would not be confined to one person. "We're not limiting the number of people we could accept onto the board," he said. "The more people that are committed and have something to offer the club, the easier it is."
