FORMER York City Knights duo Peter Fox and Danny Brough have been earmarked as potential England stars for the 2013 World Cup.
Acomb-based winger Fox and Huddersfield Giants scrum-half Brough were named in England coach Steve McNamara’s 32-strong elite training squad that will form the nucleus of the national team between now and the World Cup in two years time.
Fox, who plays for engage Super League outfit Hull KR, is one of 15 players in the squad who figured in last year’s Four Nations.
Brough, who set an all-time York RL record of 412 points in a season in 2004, is one of six uncapped players. The half-back captained Scotland in the 2008 World Cup.
The England squad will meet regularly throughout the year for training.
McNamara said: “There is a terrific blend of youth and experience in the squad and I’m sure the players will benefit from working alongside each other over the months and years.”
