MARQUEE signing Jason Demetriou could line up at centre for York City Knights, according to head coach Dave Woods.
The former Super League star, who signed a one-year deal at Huntington Stadium last week, was widely expected to play in the back row when the Knights launch their assault on the Championship.
But the 34-year-old, a former captain of Wakefield Trinity Wildcats, is renowned for his versatility and has also played at stand-off and centre – and it is in the latter position where Woods feels his future may lie at York.
Speaking about the signing, he said: “He will be great for us. There’s a lot of talk about him playing in the back row, but my thought is he will play in the centre.
“He has got the beauty of being able to play in a few different positions.”
