VETERAN schemer Andy Ellis is set to figure in York City Knights' 17 for only the second time in eight matches when they go to Keighley Cougars on Sunday - but in-form winger Dee Foggin-Johnston is ruled out.

Ellis, a former Championship Player of the Year, was in the 19-man party for last week's stunning win over Toronto but watched the game from the stands.

Fellow hooker Will Jubb gave a superb 80-minute display that day but Ellis, a bit-part player in the preceding League One win over Workington after a slow recovery from a calf strain, will likely come onto the bench and interchange again with the young gun.

That bench spot has been freed up by James Haynes, who will almost certainly start at full-back on Sunday in place of the suspended Ash Robson. Haynes remained in the dugout throughout the Toronto game.

Said head coach James Ford: “It’s always a good time to bring in a player of Andy’s calibre, even more so this week. We’re expecting a really fiery Keighley team, pushing the boundaries of what’s acceptable on a rugby field and what’s not.

“Andy will bring mature game management, class and composure, and it’s a real boost to bring him back into the 17.”

DFJ, one of the stars of the show last week, and who scored back-to-back hat-tricks last month, has been sidelined by a damaged shoulder.

Veteran winger Tommy Saxton is a natural replacement.

Skipper Ed Smith is still out, with no further news on his knee injury. Half-back Harry Tyson-Wilson is likely to be 18th man again, with back-row Liam Thompson also added in the 19.

Cougars quartet Scott Law, Mike Emmett, Matthew Bailey and Ben Sagar have all shaken off knocks picked up in last week's win at Doncaster.

Josh Lynam is also available despite being charged with grade 'A' punching during a skirmish at the Keepmoat Stadium - a case to be heard by the disciplinary panel next week.

Brad Nicholson (knee) is out and fellow ex-Knight Josh Tonks serves the fourth of his five-game suspension for his red card against York in their previous meeting.
