LEYTON ORIENT'S youth team have endured a quiet few years since the likes of Chris Bart-Williams and Darren Purse rolled off the Brisbane Road production line. But the signs are that the latest crop of youngsters stand a good chance of emulating that famous pair.

The young O's have enjoyed an amazing season, collecting their latest victory against Bournemouth, moving them to third place in the South East Counties League.

Coach Paul Brush has had scouts flocking to watch his youngsters and several graduates of the scheme have already featured in the club's first team this season.

The side are unbeaten in the league since the end of October and Brush said: "It's nice when both teams are winning. The first team are doing well and our lads are buzzing too. If both sides end up in third place then I don't think anybody will be complaining.

"The better the team are doing, the more confidence the boys have and everybody wins -- the team and the individuals. It all gives the young players encouragement because they know they can get a professional contract."
