LONG-SERVING York City reporter Malcolm Huntington will miss the club’s second-ever trip to Wembley stadium.

Malcolm has clocked up almost 2,000 matches covering the Minstermen’s fortunes since 1968, first for the Evening Press and then as a freelance since his retirement from the newspaper in 1995.

He was our man when City clinched promotion in the 1993 play-off final over Crewe, but will be a notable absentee in the press box this afternoon.

Instead, Malcolm will be taking his seat in Barcelona’s Nou Camp for the possible La Liga title clincher against Villarreal.

The Catalan trip was booked as a 75th-birthday gift by his son, unaware of a potential clash with an FA Trophy final appearance for the Minstermen.
