Goalkeeper Michael Ingham signs new two-year York City contract

GOALKEEPER Michael Ingham has signed a new two-year deal with York City.

The former Northern Ireland international was contracted until the end of this season, but has now signed until the end of the 2013/4 campaign.

Manager Gary Mills said he was "delighted" to agree terms with Ingham, adding: "I thought it was the right thing to do. He is very important to us."

Yes very good news. Thought last season was his best. Dealt with crosses and corners exceptionally well. Well done Michael.

Still improving, which is bad news for opposition strikers.

His display at Mansfield in the second leg play off was outstanding when considering the abuse he got. Never put a foot wrong under considerable intimidation.

Inghy played exceptionally well during the play-offs and the FAT final and his headed clearance from outside his box when one to one with Matt Green(who then fouled him and was rightly cautioned) was pivotal to our overall win against Mansfield. A very good and experienced keeper who will play a big part in our push for a promotion spot next season. COYR.

Sadly we can't compete with the likes of Bradford wage wise. 7000 season tickets sold next to our 1400.

Did you ever see Greame Crawford play?

Or Roger Jones?

We have some decent keepers and a few "iffy" ones.

Ingham certainly rates amongst them.

My Fav' was Joe Neenan....

just to add to that, Ingham's not one of the "iffy" ones....

But Ginger Joe !!!!

Agree with that, Graeme Crawford held the league record, 11 games in a row without conceding a single goal. There is also Mike Walker Welsh international goalkeeper and Dean (Deano) Kiely.

Of course we did have Sam Bartram, who was brilliant in his day. HA HA. sadly only managed the City. Now there was a goal keeping Legend.

I remember Ron Hillyard walking to his right hand post to escort a scuffed shot out for a goal kick only for the ball to roll gently into the net behind him. Epic 'keeping.

Am posting a bit late on this thread BUT, Tommy Forgan with his "ratting-cap" on, took some beating as a City keeper and as a young, spell-bound kid watching in 1961 when we beat Leicester City in a League Cup tie at BC and when his opposite number was that English footballing legend Gordon Banks, I thought Tommy that night was more than a match of our '66 national icon!!! Understand he now lives in Oz - does the club still keep in touch with him - it would be nice to think so??

I did mention Tomy Forgan earlier, there can't be many of those players from his generation left. I understand there is one who lives in Australia.
