Pitch inspection called ahead of York City v Aldershot Town

YORK City's game at home to Aldershot Town in npower League Two is facing a 10am pitch inspection tomorrow.

Saturday's game at Bootham Crescent is in serious doubt due to frost and snow, and an early decision is expected to be made to prevent Aldershot from travelling north.

Surely there's no chance of this game going ahead. Even if there's no snowfall, the ground will be rock-solid!

Correct Luke, but you can't call a game off without an inspection....

how about putting covers on and using some hot air blowers overnight to blow the air under the covers softening the pitch..simples..

Weather forecast for to-morrow and Saturday is pretty dire, with more snow and plummeting temperatures, so, realistically can't see a match-official doing anything other than postponing - shame but gives our squad time to throw off any injuries(McGurk, Chambers, Doig) and get to know Ben Everson and any more new arrivals!! If called off early, we won't risk having to pay Aldershot their full travelling/accomodat
ion expenses, as for the Gillingham postponement on the 22nd. December. I would think Boro scouts will be more disappointed than most, as they would no doubt have been down at BC looking at The Shots ahead of next weeks FACup 4th Round! COYR

All the hot air you get on here should sort it!

A bit too corrosive, I'm afraid. And I'm not sure that unadulterated bile is any good for grass.

A sensible ref will call it off and we don;t want to have to pay Aldershots expenses do we? Still Ben Everson might have had a blinder in these conditions having played in Iceland!

Not that simple though redblue, and it also costs a fortune, though I'm not sure how much the club will lose if the game doesn't go ahead

Wouldn't be the end of the world if the game is postponed. Hopefully we can play the re arranged game when they aren't in as good a form as they are at the moment.

Is that today?

Sat here in bristol waiting for us to get absolutely mullered tonight. Looks like tomorrow is going to be entertaining the kids on sledges.

Wouldn't be surprised if the next action is February judging by the forecast for the next couple of weeks

Looking out the window now I'm amazed at the result of the inspection! I can still see Aldershot getting up here and it then being called off nearer the ko time tomorrow - presumably meaning more expense for th Club?

How about a massive well done to ground staff for getting the game on.

why look for the negatives.

ok the Forecast is none to clever but at present the pitch is playable and i for one applaud the ground staff and have my snow shovel at the ready should i be called on to help clear any over night snow.

Great idea redbluelion! any league 2 club worth its salt would have hot air blowers.
