YORK City held a strong Leeds United side to a 0-0 draw in yesterday’s behind-closed-doors friendly at Bootham Crescent.

The Championship play-off contenders included club captain Richard Naylor but it was City that came closest to winning on a windswept afternoon.

Neil Barrett, returning to action after a kneecap injury, forced a decent save in the first half with Peter Till also narrowly missing the target twice before the interval.

In the second half, trialist Papa Agyemang went closest.

The former Ghana Under-20 international exchanged passes with Leon Constantine but his shot lacked the power to beat Leeds’ Colombian goalkeeper David Gonzalez.

City played two different sides for each half. The first period saw just one change from the side that started last Tuesday night’s 4-1 victory over AFC Wimbledon with Barrett replacing Levi Mackin, who was nursing a knock.

A team of David Knight, Danny Racchi, David McGurk, Greg Young, Chris Carruthers, Andre Boucaud, Will Hatfield, Agyemang, David McDermott, Constantine and Jamie Reed then lined up after the break.
