ADAM HINSHELWOOD has a welcomed selection headache after last weekend’s 1-0 victory over Aldershot Town.

The York City manager will have Will Smith back available to him after the defender missed the Aldershot victory through personal issues, with the centre-back in contention for an immediate return to the starting eleven against Bromley on Saturday, March 23 (3pm).

Hinshelwood admitted that he does have a selection headache after his side impressed him last weekend, with Lenell John-Lewis also pushing for a return to the squad, but illness to Danny Amos and personal issues for Dan Batty could force the Minstermen into changes.

“Will will be back available now, but the starting eleven from last week will want to keep their shirt," Hinshelwood confirmed.

“Len came off of the bench and was scoring, he’ll be itching to get out there and show what he can do as well and it’s been really good spirits amongst everyone.

“We’ve been working hard and everybody now knows what is expected, and the levels that they have got to get to for a starting space.

“I think that it has really pushed the training levels up this week.

“No one is definitely not available other than the lads that have been out injured, there are one or two illnesses going around.

“Dan Batty has had illness with his little one today so we need to see how he is, but family has got to come first and he’s had to be with him little one and wife.

“He’s said that he’ll be available tomorrow to travel so his little one is alright, god bless, but we just hope that he gets home safe, is okay and Dan can travel with us.

“Other than that, the squad is pretty much similar to last week.”

Hinshelwood also provided positive updates on Leone Gravata, Callum Harriott, Adam Crookes and Scott Burgess, who have all been back on the training field this week.

Marvin Armstrong has also recovered well from an impressive debut for the Minstermen last Saturday, despite completing his first 90 minutes of the season, with Hinshelwood allowing his new signing a welcomed rest on Monday.

“Both are closer which is brilliant to see, we had a training group with Callum Harriott and Leone Gravata, Crookesy and Burgess all with their boots on," Hinshelwood enthused.

“That was really nice to see, Burge will be back in training next week and Crookesy the following week, I can’t see them being available until after the bank holiday.

“I think his (Harriott) strength is down a bit in his hamstring, he’s had a few setbacks with it in the past and he’s one that we’re desperate to get back.

“At the same time we have to be careful with it, the last thing we want is for him to get back and he twinges it.

“He (Marvin Armstrong) did feel a bit leggy, we had to keep him off of his feet on Monday but he has soon recovered.

“He’s absolutely fine and he’s absolutely loving it, he’s said that he feels really at home here and having the home debut that he did has helped him to settle in really quickly.”

Hinshelwood also confirmed that Tyler Cordner has been struggling with illness this week, whilst Leeds United loanee Charlie Allen looks to have played his last game for the Minstermen.

The York manager told York Hospital Radio: “Tyler is one of the lads who has been missing through illness, whilst Charlie Allen is away with Northern Ireland at the moment.

“I think that his loan might be pretty much up now, so it’s all hands on deck.

“We need everyone ready to go, we’ve got to take the illness and everything going around camp into consideration.

“At the same time everyone that is training well is into contention.”
