MITCH HANCOX has found himself a new club after leaving York City earlier today.

Hancox has joined fellow Vanarama National League side Altrincham on a permanent deal, after it was announced that the midfielder had departed York by mutual consent

The 30-year-old joins an Altrincham side currently occupying seventh in the National League, after hammering City 6-1 in midweek

The Robins are believed to have made the deal after midfielder Isaac Marriott was sidelined for the foreseeable future, with Hancox a timely replacement.

Hancox, who will wear the number 26 shirt for Altrincham, has found game time limited this campaign under Mikey Morton, Neal Ardley and now Adam Hinshelwood, who revealed on Thursday afternoon that talks were ongoing for his exit

A short-term loan spell with Hartlepool United saw Hancox make seven appearances and net one goal, adding to his three appearances off of the bench for the Minstermen this campaign.

The midfielder was also part of the York side which gained promotion from the Vanarama National League North in 2022, having initially signed on loan from Hereford.

Hancox penned a permanent deal with City following the play-off final, and would go on to become a regular member of the squad in the 2022/23 National League campaign, even signing a two-year extension in February 2022.

Altrincham said on their club website: "Everyone at Alty is delighted to welcome him to the club after he agreed a move to The J.Davidson Stadium."
