ADAM HINSHELWOOD provided positive updates on Danny Amos, Kai Kennedy, Scott Burgess and Adam Crookes ahead of York City’s vital Vanarama National League clash with Aldershot Town on Saturday afternoon (3pm).

York welcome Aldershot to the LNER Community Stadium on Saturday afternoon as they look to add some important points in their battle for safety in the National League.

Hinshelwood is still looking for his first victory as manager, but has been boosted by the return of Amos and Kennedy, whilst Crookes and Burgess, who was expected to be out for the season, are back in light training after progressing in their recoveries.

“Danny Amos is back in the fold, he trained today, he’ll train tomorrow provided that he didn’t have any reaction from his calf problem,”

“Kai Kennedy got a bit of training today, he’s been struggling with his wrists so he’s available to train, he trained for the first time today and had a bit of tightness.

“We’ve got to see how he comes through, but two good players to add to selection.

“Crookesy and Burge are back on the grass now, they’re doing some running.

“I still think that they need a full week of training next week and they probably won’t be in contention until that Easter weekend.

“That’s providing that, touch wood, they don’t have any setbacks or anything when they start progressing in their rehab.

“Ducky (Michael Duckworth) went over on his ankle when he came on against Kidderminster, and that still hasn’t settled yet.

“That’s a bit of a blow, and another good leader amongst the group and a good character.

“He won’t be available on Saturday, Leone (Gravita) won’t be back and those two will be back on Monday for a full week of training.

“He’s aggravated his groin injury so he won’t quite be available either for this weekend. Other than that, hopefully everyone else will be fit.

“No injuries for Tyler (Cordner), he’s one that we’re still working with back at the training ground and we’ll keep working with him.

“He’s not one that should be out for too much longer either.”

Hinshelwood also touched upon the recent return of Quevin Castro, with the attacking midfielder making back-to-back starts for City following the recall of his loan spell from King’s Lynn Town.

“I think that he is a young, exciting footballer that we are pleased to have at the club.

“He’s got to learn for the second goal he got caught on it and they broke quickly, but we can’t level all of the blame at Castro’s door for that goal.

“He’s a player that needs to learn quickly because we can’t give up on the ball as easy as that, but at the same time he is a player that can create something.

“He’s got an enormous amount of ability and he is a player that I am really excited to be working with.

“There’s some good technical players at the club and some good young players at the club that I’m excited to work with.

“Like we mentioned already, there is Castro and Thierry (Latty-Fairweather) who are good young prospects for this club.

“We need to keep working with them and guiding them as well, but there are a lot of players at the club that we are excited to work with.”
