YORK City have unveiled the signing of Marvin Armstrong on a permanent deal from fellow Vanarama National League outfit Barnet, for an undisclosed fee.

Armstrong will link back up with York manager Adam Hinshelwood again, with the pair previously working together at Worthing in the Isthmian League Premier Division.

The 25-year-old initially joined Worthing in 2019 after a successful trial, having previously featured for Whyteleafe FC in the Southern Counties East Football League.

Armstrong was part of the Worthing side throughout the Covid-19 period, but still went on to make an impressive 89 appearances for the Rebels despite the disruption.

During his final season with Worthing, the battling midfielder was part of the Rebels side that helped secure a first-ever promotion into the Vanarama National League South.

After his efforts in becoming champions, Armstrong secured a move into the National League with Barnet in 2022, making the permanent switch to the Bees.

Armstrong went on to make 35 appearances in his debut campaign with Barnet, before playing in an additional 21 matches this season as the Bees continue in their hunt for promotion back into the English Football League.

Hinshelwood had hinted at Armstrong's signing on Thursday afternoon with the midfielder joining in his first City training this morning, having passed a medical on Thursday evening.

Armstrong could make his Minstermen debut on Saturday, March 16 (3pm) as Aldershot Town visit the LNER Community Stadium.
