YORK City are set to announce a signing ahead of Saturday’s match with Aldershot Town on Satruday, March 15 (3pm).

Adam Hinshelwood has confirmed that a player is currently having a medical with the football club ahead of a permanent move to York, with the Minstermen boss feeling that his side are in need of additions after Tuesday night’s 6-1 drilling at Altrincham.

The City manager also hinted that the incoming player is someone which he has worked with in the past, potentially at Worthing, with Hinshelwood feeling that it could be beneficial to the Minstermen.

“I think it’ll just be a case of players coming in, we’re waiting for players to come in and there could be a player potentially coming in before Saturday," Hinshelwood explained.

“If we do that, then players will be able to go out of the door as well.

“It’s very likely, it’s not done until it’s done and there’s still a long way to go in terms of his medical and things like that.

“We’re hoping that we will have some players in and at least one to provide some legs and some energy to the team.

“It will definitely help having players that we know with what they can bring to the team.

“All those factors are vitally important at this stage."

York midfielder Mitch Hancox also looks set to depart the club after finding himself out of favour under Hinshelwood, Neal Ardley and Mikey Morton this season, with talks ongoing between clubs.

Hinshelwood stated: “There’s talks ongoing at the moment, there’s talks with Mitch and we’re trying to decide what is best for him and what is best for the football club.2
