YORK City co-chairs Matt and Julie-Anne Uggla will reimburse travelling supporters after a heavy 6-1 defeat to Altrincham on Tuesday night.

Adam Hinshelwood's side fell to a heavy loss at the hands of play-off chasers Altrincham on Tuesday night, with goals from Justin Amaluzor, Jake Cooper, Chris Conn-Clarke, a brace from Alex Newby and an own-goal from George Sykes-Kenworthy all placing York deeper into trouble.

City remain glued to second from bottom in the Vanarama National League on 40 points, but now have the third-worst goal difference in the division after shipping six goals to the Robins.

With 269 incredible supporters making the journey into Altrincham, co-chairs Matt and Julie-Anne addressed the defeat on social media, assuring fans that they were working hard to turn York's performances around.

The co-chairs also confirmed that supporters who travelled will be reimbursed for the fixture.

The Uggla's said on social media: "We are beyond disappointed with tonight’s result and will be reimbursing the away fans for their tickets.

"We have genuinely tried to put all the tools needed to build a successful team, from recruitment, to housing, nutrition, and better training facilities.

"We have obviously got something wrong and will not stop trying until we it get right."
