YORK City crashed to a dismal 3-0 defeat at Bromley to extend their win-less run to a 16th game.

Goals from Jack Holland, George Porter and Adam Cunnington also condemned the troubled Minstermen to a 34th match without an away triumph.

City fell behind following the first attack of the afternoon when Blair Turgott’s free kick from the left was headed into recalled keeper Kyle Letheren’s bottom-left corner from eight yards by Holland .

The hosts initially responded well, but a threatening counter attack, led by Robbie McDaid down the right, resulted in a scuffed 12-yard Charlie Cooper effort that struck skipper Simon Heslop and spun wide.

Debutant Jake Charles then dragged a 15-yard attempt across the face of goal after being played through the left channel by Alex Whittle.

A great run and cross by Whittle also saw Cooper beat Alan Julian with a near-post diving header, but the ball bounced back into play off the inside of the home keeper’s left-hand upright.

Heslop went on to hoof out of the ground from 20 yards before the Minstermen fell further behind following Bromley’s second attack of the afternoon on 25 minutes.

A through ball by Joe Anderson dissected the away defence far too easily and Porter broke through the left channel before tucking an eight-yard shot past the advancing Letheren.

Moments later, Turgott cut inside Sean Newton but sliced well wide whilst, at the other end, Shaun Rooney headed off target from six yards after rising high to meet Cooper’s right-wing free kick.

Bromley went into the break in the ascendancy, however, with Letheren parrying a firm David Martin 25-yard drive after he had brushed past Luke Woodland.

The City keeper also recovered to keep out Oluwatobi Sho-Silva’s follow-up effort.

A pacey Sho-Silva then escaped the attentions of Klukowski, but his shot lacked the power and direction to beat Letheren.

After the break, Holland missed the target after hesitation from Letheren in his six-yard box, while Danny Holmes volleyed wide from 15 yards after Whittle’s cross from the left had bounced up invitingly.

Charles shot wide from 20 yards shortly afterwards, before Letheren produced another double save to thwart Martin and Turgott after the former had ran in behind Holmes through the left channel.

The City keeper also pushed a looping Rob Swaine header over his bar from Turgott’s resulting corner.

Bromley added a third goal from the same source, though, on 78 minutes when Turgott’s flag kick from the left picked out an unmarked Cunnington and his six-yard header beat Letheren, who might have done better. Lee Minshull, meanwhile, saw another header finish wide from Martin’s left-wing centre.

Toothless City forced Alan Julian into his first and final save on 88 minutes with a 20-yard Scott Fenwick drive that was comfortably gathered.
