ON-LOAN Barnsley attacker Jake Charles is expected to make his York City debut at Bromley tomorrow after agreeing terms at Bootham Crescent until January.

Charles, 20, is the grandson of former Leeds and Wales legend John Charles and, if he starts at Hayes Lane, he will be making his full professional debut.

The 6ft forward’s only previous senior outing came for former club Huddersfield in March 2015 when, having just turned 19, he came on as a 76th-minute substitute during a Championship clash against Fulham.

He also went on loan to Guiseley last term, but didn’t feature for the National League outfit and was signed by Barnsley for an undisclosed fee this September.

Charles joined Huddersfield from Garforth Villa at the age of 11 and also has international honours for Wales at under-16, under-17, under-19 and under-21 level.

He has netted twice in nine appearances for the U21s and is the fourth member of his family to play for the country after his grandfather, his grandfather’s brother Mel and grandfather’s nephew Jeremy.
