MANCHESTER part-timers Curzon Ashton are expected to line up against York City with just three players boasting Football League experience.

Ashton, who are believed to operate on the National League North’s lowest wage budget, are a team largely made up of personal trainers, school teachers and, in midfielder, Alex Brown a digital designer.

But on-loan Salford City midfielder Luke Clark has turned out four times for Preston in the past, before a 13-game spell at Accrington.

Right-back Chris Rowney and striker Paul Ennis, meanwhile, have two substitute appearances to their names at League level with Oldham and Stockport respectively.

Possibly the club’s most recognised player, though, is likely to be named on the bench.

Winger Rory Gorman – a summer signing - has nine full international caps for Northern Ireland, but is struggling to get in Curzon’s starting XI at moment.

Gorman’s appearances for his country all came under former Minstermen chief Nigel Worthington with his first call-up at the age of 17 and his last match a 3-0 defeat in Italy when the likes of Gianluigi Buffon, Daniele De Rossi and Andrea Pirlo played for the hosts.

The 23-year-old attacker, who made a one-minute appearance for first club Wolves in the Premier League, is rebuilding his career with the Nash, having also stopped off for short spells at Plymouth, Macclesfield, Cambridge, Leyton Orient, Southport, Barrow and Telford.

Niall Cummins is Ashton’s leading marksman this term with five goals and the visitors should have a full squad to choose from with defender Matt Flynn having recovered from an ankle problem.

But he is not expected to dislodge on-loan Oldham centre-back Jamie Stott, who has covered in his absence.

Curzon manager John Flanagan is now in his sixth season at the helm and, having overseen back-to-back promotions, he steered the club to its highest-ever finish of 11th in National League North last term.

The former Mossley and Woodley Sports chief, who played for Hyde, Stalybridge and Droylsden after being released from Stockport’s youth team, has also been assistant manager at Winsford United and Salford in the past.

Curzon are currently fifth-bottom in their division – two places and six points above the relegation zone.

Only top-two AFC Fylde and Darlington, however, have won more league games on the road than Ashton’s three this season.

In fact, Ashton will arrive in North Yorkshire, along with three coach-loads of 150 supporters, having only lost once in their last 11 away fixtures – against Fylde.

A 4-0 home victory over Bedworth United teed up this tie with City after Consett were overcome 1-0 in a second qualifying round replay, following a 1-1 draw in Ashton.

Curzon (probable): Burton, Rowney, Hunt, Stott, Hampson, Wright, Brown, Clark, Hall, Cummins, Ennis.
