YORK City will play host to a buoyant Boreham Wood side who have won their last five National league fixtures.

The Hertfordshire part-timers have opened the new campaign with surprise victories over title favourites Forest Green (1-0) and last term's beaten play-off, semi-finalists Dover (4-1) to join Lincoln, Gateshead and Tranmere as the only four clubs to take maximum points four days into the season.

Their efforts follow a fine finish to 2015/16 when wins at Aldershot (2-1) and Welling (3-0) sandwiched a 1-0 home triumph over Guiseley to lift the club two points outside the relegation zone in the final standings.

Personnel has changed somewhat since that great escape with seven summer signings - Grant Smith, Matthew Paine, Kenny Davis, Bruno Andrade, Mark Ricketts, Angelo Balanta and former Minsterman Adriano Moke - all set to retain their starting XI places for the trip to North Yorkshire.

Moke, 26, was recruited from Wrexham where he made 32 appearances under ex-Bootham Crescent chief Gary Mills last season.

The Glenn Hoddle Academy graduate, who enjoyed 28 outings during the Minsteremen's glorious 2012 double Wembley-winning campaign before turning down a new deal and leaving for Cambridge United, has been given a free role behind ex-Carlisle and MK Dons striker Balanta, but has not netted in his last 44 fixtures.

Femi Ilesanmi, who was released by City at the end of last term, has been an unused substitute during Wood's opening two games after being added to the squad the week before the new season and is expected to be named on the bench again.

But one-time Sheffield Wednesday and Aberdeen attacker Danny Uchechi will not feature due to injury and defender David Stephens remains doubtful after missing the Dover match.

The visitors were helped to victory in that game when Ricky Miller was sent off for the host side on 49 minutes.

Three goals were subsequently scored in nine minutes - two by Portuguese winger Andrade, who has been recruited from Championship outfit QPR following loan spells at Aldershot, Wycombe, Stevenage and Woking.

Manager Luke Garrard was looking for firepower in the close season with on-loan Bristol Rovers forward Jamie Lucas having topped the club's scoring charts last term with just seven league goals.

Garrard became the youngest manager in English football's top five divisions last October when he took over the reins from Ian Allinson at the age of 30.

Released by Tottenham as a schoolboy, Garrard's subsequent Football League career was limited to 17 appearances for Swindon, before he went on to play part-time for Bishop's Stortford, Northwood, AFC Wimbledon and Boreham Wood, where he has spent the last six years.

Boreham Wood (probable): Smith, Nunn, Devera, Paine, Woodards, Shakes, Davis, Ricketts, Andrade, Moke, Balanta.
