HOLLAND football fans Jacky Caley and Julian Holden, with students Katherine Hodgson, left, and Ollie Bailey who are taking part in the Summer Soul XL project at St Michael-le-Belfrey church in York.
The church was just one of the venues packed with football fans in York last night to watch the final of the World Cup.
Rev Alistair Rycroft, curate at St Michael’s, in Minster Yard, said he was excited to be hosting the family event.
“The church already has a big screen and a projector and lots of space so we thought why don’t we use this for the World Cup final?
“We wanted to make sure that families were able to watch the final. It’s always much more fun to watch matches in a crowd but if you have young kids you can’t watch the game with them in a pub.”
All over York, pubs, bars and restaurants laid on big screens for the clash between The Netherlands and Spain.
