POCKLINGTON RUFC were involved in a bizarre Yorkshire Two encounter at Leodiensians where they looked to be heading for a heavy defeat at the interval, then came back to dominate the second half and have enough chances to win the game, only to end up losing 25-3.
Pock missed a first minute penalty, then launched a couple of dangerous attacks before Leos turned the tables to kick a penalty then add an 80 yard breakaway try. Leos then took control through their bigger pack and added another score from a lineout catch and drive.
Pocklington replied when fly-half Henry Mitchell kicked a good penalty and then dominated possession with wing Nick Bennett and man-of-the-match Charlie Allen both went close in the right corner.
Although Pocklington created openings, they were unable to find a finish and both centre Guy Hope and Allen had the ball knocked from their grasp as they looked certain to score.
Leos broke out in the dying minutes and another forward drive saw them add a third try with the final whistle going straight afterwards.
There are still two games to come at Percy Road before the end of the season, as Pocklington Under-21s play York University U21s on Wednesday (6.45pm), then on Sunday Pocklington play their annual President's XV finale at 2pm.
